Evaluating Relationships with Community Partners

ABCD and Institutions (Universities, Hospitals, Government, Libraries, NGOs, etc.)

Hi John,

Thank you for your feedback! I agree with both of your points. I'm particularly happy you mentioned your second point. That is a point I had not thought a lot about yet, but I think it's really key to what I'm trying to do.

When I have a draft of my evaluation form completed would it be okay if I ask for your feedback on it?

Thank you!

Evaluating Relationships with Community Partners

ABCD and Institutions (Universities, Hospitals, Government, Libraries, NGOs, etc.)

Hi Ron,

I grew up in South Natomas! What a small world!

anyway, I would love to meet up. It might be easier to plan something over email - do you want to message me at theckers@ucdavis.edu?

Evaluating Relationships with Community Partners

ABCD and Institutions (Universities, Hospitals, Government, Libraries, NGOs, etc.)

Hello everyone!

I work at a large university medical center and use ABCD in my work building relationships with different partners in our community. I'm working on developing a process to evaluate the relationships we have with our community partners, and I was wondering if anyone has any info on this topic.

The purpose of the evaluations is to evaluate the health of our relationships, catch any problems when they're small, etc.

Anyone else work at a university hospital?

ABCD and Institutions (Universities, Hospitals, Government, Libraries, NGOs, etc.)

Hello everyone!

About three months ago I started a new job with the UC Davis Health System in Sacramento, CA. I'm the Community Liaison for the Department of Family and Community Medicine. In short, that means I'm in charge of getting our medical students and resident physicians to interact with the communities in our geographical area. I set up times for them to visit social services agencies, help them implement community projects with partner agencies, etc.

It's a great job, but I've found it a bit challenging at times too. We use the ABCD approach here in my department(or at least, that's what we strive for), but I'm having a hard time understanding how my big institution fits into ABCD. And given that the rest of the university doesn't necessarily embrace ABCD, my department's model of community engagement doesn't always jive with the way the rest of the university operates.

I was curious - do any of you have a similar job? I'd love to connect and chat about positive experiences you've had, difficulties you've encountered, etc.

Thanks!

What do Gappers actually "do"? What are their functions?

Working in the Gap

Wow! I am so excited that I joined this group. I'm new to the ABCD method and didn't know that there is a term for the kind of job I do. I've been feeling very lost trying to figure out how my job fits into ABCD, which seems very focused on utilizing people and other assets outside of big institutions.
