Looking for ABCD practitioners who are also familiar with theater of the oppressed and psychodrama

ABCD and Art

Hi @john-hamerlinck thank you so much! I actually know Tane and Brandon from T2P2. Love their work, but they tend to focus in local issues. They did a show in DC once, but again it's mostly US based. I appreciate you thinking of them. Highly recommend attending one of their shows!

Warmly,

Andres

Looking for ABCD practitioners who are also familiar with theater of the oppressed and psychodrama

ABCD and Art

Hi,

My name is Andres Marquez-Lara. I'm Founder and Passion Catalyst at Promethean Community (https://prometheancommunity.com/). We are a social enterprise devoted to the facilitation of systemic change in Latin America and the Caribbean.  We design interactive workshops for community and organizational leaders that strengthen and leverage collaboration, trust, and communication to create sustainable solutions to today’s complex challenges

We are looking to expand our roster of facilitators in Latin America and the Caribbean and would love to connect with potential collaborators who are familiar with the principles and approaches of ABCD, and who are also familiar with participatory theater processes like Theater of the oppressed or psychodrama or playback theater.

If you are interested in connecting, please email me at andres@prometheancommunity.com

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Warmly,

Andres

Living System Work

Shared Resources and Materials

Happy Holidays to everyone. I just came across two institutes that may be of interest to many of the members in this community:

http://berkana.org/about/

http://www.colorado.edu/Research/CISW/

Their work sounds fascinating!

Has anyone in this group heard of these groups? Are you connected to them? I am hoping to learn more.

Warmly,

Andres

ABCD for Parenting Education classes

Tips, Tools, Strategies, and Technology

Thanks for your reply, Deb! I really appreciate it. The video is particularly helpful as part of the work will be to work with parents to do outreach to invite other parents to the groups. As for what do I mean by "parent education", I mean using evidence-based curriculum to support positive parenting performances (i.e. Tips on how to communicate with your child "I messages vs. You messages", anger management, etc). Basically, I'm trying to enhance a traditional parent education curriculum and program, with asset based mapping.

Thanks again for the help.

Warmly,

Andres

ABCD for Parenting Education classes

Tips, Tools, Strategies, and Technology

Hi everyone,

I hope that you are all well. I haven't met many of you, but I look forward to getting to know this community better. Most of my work with communities will be through my consulting company, Promethean Community. However, today, I'm writing to you from a different vantage point. In addition to my consulting company, I'm the Parent Education Manager at a small non-profit. It is from this location that I write to you today.

I write to you because I wanted to ask this community ways in which you thought this small non-profit that does parent education could integrate ABCD tool kit as a way to do a strength-based community assessment?

My basic idea was to have one or two one time workshops for parents, and then spend the latter half of each workshop using tools from the ABCD tool kit as a way to guide future workshops that parents could provide with each other, or other community members could provide for each other. Actually, you are already helping me by making me think of using the "We can" game (http://www.abcdinstitute.org/docs/WE%20CAN%20Guidelines%20Oct%2010.pdf) for parents to identify people in their local community, including themselves, who could do these one type workshops.

What are some other ideas that you may have as to how to infuse the ABCD tool kit into this hybrid workshops of parenting education classes/strength based community assessments?

Warmly,

Andres
