Welcome to the ABCD in Action community. It's wonderful to have you with us. There are some wonderful ABCD practitioners in the UK. It would be great to know why you have join ABCD in Action so we can connect you with any resources or people to support your learning.

Take some time to explore the site - there is a treasure trove of blogs to read, conversations in the forum, and lots of videos.  Check out upcoming events and training opportunities that you might be interested in. Be sure to check the monthly ABCD in Action Global Gatherings (see the Events tab). In addition, to all the great information here, there are also some great resources available on the ABCD Institute website. You can also follow the ABCD in Action on Facebook

The 2022 virtual ABCD Unconference is currently accepting proposals from people to host/facilitate a session to find out more, please visit the ABCD Unconference website.

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out. We'd also love to hear your ideas, questions, and more.

Yours in Community,

Michelle (Australia)

Thank you for the warm welcome. I am currently doing a masters in Sociology and Social Justice, my research dissertation is based on Asset-based Community Development. I am also standing for local elections next May to become a councillor. I am extremely interested in how ABCD can strengthen the community, I will be representing and aim to bring it into my professional career.

The resources will be extremely useful to me and I still have quite a bit to learn.

Many Thanks

Sarah

Hi Sarah,

Good luck with your council election campaign. You might want to have a look at the Voice for movement (Participatory Democracy) that has proliferated across Australia and made a big difference at our recent Federal election.

You might find these reports really useful https://www.nesta.org.uk/report/asset-based-community-development-local-authorities/ and Asset Based Community Development: Evaluation of Leeds ABCD

Let us know if you have any particular questions.

Cheers
