Hello Everyone- Below are some journal articles that have come across my desk recently that show the reach of ABCD.  If you do not have access to an academic library, send me a message if you would like a copy of any of them.

Thanks for sharing those Alison. I keep a close eye out for articles (see my list of over 100 resourses at but I hadn't seen any of these. They are particularly useful as they come from a range of fields and I teach students from quite a range of disciplines.

I'm looking forward to looking at them. Thanks again.

Thanks Graeme- I have perused your list before.  I am working on my dissertation that is focused on ABCD, social capital, and people with disabilities so have many related search alerts set up.

Blickem, C., Dawson, S., Kirk, S., Vassilev, I., Mathieson, A., Harrison, R., ... & Lamb, J. (2018). What is Asset-Based Community Development and How Might It Improve the Health of People With Long-Term Conditions? A Realist Synthesis. SAGE Open, 8(3), 2158244018787223.

Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) appears to be a promising way to supporting people with long-term health problems but there is currently a lack of evidence to support this approach. Taking a realist approach, a review and conceptmapping exercise of ABCD approaches to improve health were conducted with a view to providing a better understanding about these approaches, how they work, and who they work for. Totally, 29 papers were deemed relevant and included in the review. The realist synthesis and concept mapping helped to identify concepts most commonly associated with ABCD
but found no papers focused on long-term conditions (LTCs) and thus no evidence that this approach improves health outcomes for people with LTCs. While there is a lack of clarity about how to implement ABCD or how to evaluate it, this article offers a clearer theoretical framework about the essential ingredients needed to activate ABCD.
