Just completed work to introduce ABCD into areas of Kano state in Nigeria. This was over just 3 months. Trained over 200 people, though with 12 community organizers leading the program. They met over 15,000 people. 141 associations established or 'reawakened'! 48 community savings and loans schemes set up. Local structures contributed by community members for shops and meeting centres. Teachers paid by communities. Tradespeople contributed work for nothing. For sustainability reasons the Community Organizers are forming their own association to continue the work. The monetary value of the community inputs were 4 times greater than outside investment.
This is a great example of, not only a very clear mindset change on the part of many people, but also a palpable growth in confidence as dependency on outside agents waned.
