I am an active community volunteer helping to achieve the Pittsfield Promise, Pittsfield, MA which is: By 2020 90% 0f Pittsfield students will achieve reading proficiency as demonstrated by 3rd grade reading standards. We were an All America City awardee for the Grade Level Reading Campaign sponsored by the National Civic League and the Annie Casey Foundation in July of this year.

One of our strategic initiatives is to use ABCD in helping to identify and connect the assets in the community to those in need of same specific to early childhood development. We are active in family/communityengagementwith turning outward conversations.

Can you help in providing information or guidance for capacity inventory questions with a focus on infusing or developing literacy skills for early childhood? Our literacy definition includes cognitive, social, emotional, physical, and character skills. Thus wed like to find assets that help with all literacy skills like play, song, drawing, painting as well as reading. Any help or direction you can provide is much appreciated.

Our local school district has a similar early childhood literacy goal - a couple of really useful assets are any mobile preschool classrooms (here they're called Classroom on WHeels, affectionately known as the COW Bus) and any early childhood programs in the area's Boys and Girls Clubs
