Retired, Coady Institute Associate
Alison worked as a member of the teaching faculty and as Research Director at the Coady International Institute, with Asset Based Community Development (ABCD) as a specialty area. Since retirement she has continued as an Associate, primarily on a project with the Self Employed Women's Association (SEWA) in India. She has a PhD from Cornell University in Program Evaluation and Planning, focusing on participatory approaches and mixed method evaluations, and a Masters in Sociology from Guelph University focusing on Gender Studies. She views herself as a "pracademic" having worked at the local community level, or with partners working at that level, in various African, Asian, and Pacific countries. In the last 2 years, she has been actively involved in the sponsorship and settlement of Afghan refugees in Antigonish, Nova Scotia.
