My background is in youth work and I have assisted young people in an asset mapping exercise in a "disadvantaged, bad reputation" semi-rural town with amazing results! For e.g. the local paint store owner was cranky with the crime/grafitti/young people but it was discovered it was because he had such a passion about the good they could do - he offered to donate paint to renovate and clean up the youth centre and built some great relationships with the young people...all through asset mapping... Fantastic!
