Who, historically or currently, is your favorite community organizer, or one you find most interesting? Why?

Definitely my mom. Although she's never been employed as a community organizer, she has an amazing talent for connecting with people and connecting people with each other. Technically retired for years, she currently works part-time at the Shopko in her small town and everyone in the community knows her, and likes and admires her. She has a way of making each person feel special - that we each have gifts to share - and inspires people to do more with their gifts. She is always open to new ideas, new ways of looking at life and delights in the accomplishments of those around her.

FInally, an easy question.Ron, it's you.Perhaps it's easy becuase of all the community organizers I know (maybe 20) you are the one I know the best. Still, if your criteria include integrity, effectiveness, mentoring, creativity, openness, self-deprication, accountability, longevity, teaching ability, leadership development, and the pleasure of your company, I'd find it hard to top you.Of course, I've never met Mike Green ...
