As a nubie to the ABCD online community,I wanted to reach out about how this work relates to creating our built environments. As alongtime practitioner of asset-based community building through social justice work, and now as a Masters Candidate in Interior Design, I am really interested in connecting with others who are already engaged in or are interested in utilizing ABCD methods to create more spaces that reflect our communities. Participatory design has a long (if often unrecognized) history in the US and abroad, but finding collaborators committed to asset-based practices is not always easy. Any one interested in connecting about this, or who has information or ideas to share on best practices in marrying asset-based work and design, I would be so delighted to talk with you.
