Again, I view the student as showing poor taste/judgment and as a parent would have told my child NOT to wear anything of a controversial nature so as to draw attention towards himself in a negative manner. Why borrow trouble?
Recently a localhigh school student sported a vest embellished with the Confederate flag and this was reportedin the local newspaper with much feedback,pros and cons. Ibelieve the student to have exhibited bad taste. I'm interested in how others might see this situation handled or ignored. Provide feedback and I'll supply the outcome
Dee: Making connections with peeps and their agendas big challenge so congrats. I put a book exchange in front of my house and had same written up in the local newspaper; walk my dog daily and know many neighbors and names of their pets and still am challenged by the unaware/stagnant/disconnected/uncaring/entitled/attitudinal so continue with my determination to meet/greet those who wish to connect one on one, looking forward to spring/summer and more activity
Sarah: A lovely and popular name as we have three in our rural neighborhood. I, however, would telephone or email individuals as I would not knock on a neighbor's door as I would prefer to receive communication face-to-face. I guard my privacy but am usu approachable on the roads where I walk and talk to those approachable neighbors. I totally AVOID those volunteers who have agendas and thus find myself disengaged from volunteering in groups and have a book exchange in front of my house and make it a point to engage with my neighbors during my walks. How do you like living in New Zealand?
And let us know how you do. I continue to try to energize my book exchange (see my blog) but realize TIMING is the key here so await warmer weather all the while continue to look for good books. When you choose to drive the bus YOU are creating/maintain the momentum.
Can you call and/or email those involved to see what their thoughts might be or what ideas they would like to see put into action?
Love to experience an eatery where we could enjoy local veggies/breads and other produces and where we could be known by name. I realize how expensive the cost of an eatery is and how difficult it is to compete and yet some of us are looking to be nourished in a friendly/community setting. Any feedback here?
