Community led health events - ideas and critiques invited!
ABCD and Health
I am working on two, connected proposals from a church in a low income neighborhood. They would be funded by a small grant to improve health. The first one I am proposing is to find persons in the neighborhood who are doing home or community gardening to become a core group to lead the first event on healthy food/healthy eating. The second event was originally envisioned as a standard health fair (experts, brochures, measurements). I am working to come up with an excercise, stress-reduction in-neighborhood, community discovery process culminating in community-led demonstrations of simple ideas for neighborhood practices and/or simple facility ideas. This latter event is less clear in my mind and I invite anyone to offer some experiences or thoughts I might use. Thanks.
