ABCD & Place-Making

Tips, Tools, Strategies, and Technology

Next week, I'm delivering an ABCD workshopat the Place-Based Solutions Conferencein Sydney.

I believe place-making creates some fantastic community initiatives and the practice aligns with ABCD practices in so many ways. They strengthen each other.

One of our American ABCD mates,Jim Diers, talks about creating "bumping places" in community - same thing?

I would love to hear what others think? Have you used Place-Making in your community work?

SURVIVING, THRIVING, INNOVATING, EXCELLING AND LEADING in this new reality will require us to build on and reach beyond effectiveness. The call and need of a new ear is for greatness. Shared Resources and Materials

Coping and Resilience: Peoples innovative solutions
Venkat Pulla1, Charles Sturt University
vpulla@csu.edu.au

Abstract
This Paper introduces the intertwined concepts of coping and resilience, with their varied dimensions. Beginning with brief stories that show how individuals, groups, communities and nations display both coping and resilience every day, the analysis shifts to the meaning of every day stress and adversity that have become inevitable parts of daily jigsaw puzzle of life. The paper also presents a birds eye view of the meaning of every day stress and adversity that has become inevitable parts of our daily life and brings in strengths perspective into resiliency and finally signals the efficacy of an inner strengths approach.
