I am part of a Community of Practice in Rockhampton who gathers regularly to reflect and share ideas on how to build belonging in our community for an inclusive community. After much reflection and conversation with our broader community, we have started to plan for an "Inclusive Communities" week in late May which will be based at our wonderful library and be a combination of static displays (library books etc.); storytelling (stories from our indigenous elders and other leaders in our community). We have many ideas but would love to hear from anyone else who may have done something similar and would like to share ideas. As part of our week we would love to develop an asset map of our community, so if anyone has some resources/ activities to do this it would be wonderful to hear from you.

The purpose of the week is to raise public awareness and change social consciousness of this issue in our community - what is an inclusive community? How do we build belonging in our community?. By storytelling and hosting conversations and activities that identify the strengths and assets in our community we hope to inspire others to think of other approaches to addressing community issues rather than calling another "crime summit" or "public disorder meeting" which is the current approach in our community. Many thanks,
Angela
